Let me distract you while I continue working...

The very last post that I wrote in my old blog contained a shot of a sunset that I took while standing in the middle of an empty lot off Central Avenue, between the George & Dragon Pub and Lux Cafe. And so I thought for continuation's sake, and also since I don't have the time or the brain power to think of anything remotely creative to write right now since I'm working late, I'd post another shot from the same evening:

So I visited New York for the first time recently and will admit that the city thumps Phoenix in many different ways (which I will write about in detail in due time), but I will say this: my good friends in Manhattan will never see skies like the one above. Hell, in New York, you just notice that it's getting dark which means it's time for $15 cocktail happy hour and that's about it. They don't even know what they're missing as the sun's descending towards the horizon.

The Big Apple may have 10 billion great things to offer, but Phoenix definitely wins this point hands down. Oh, and the whole not paying $2500 per month to live in a shoebox thing. Or not having rabid meter maids handing out parking tickets. Or, hey, having parking in the first place. Or...

I don't know O, I would move to New York in a heartbeat! I can't wait to go back one day.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind living in NYC for a while either (the city and its energy are incredible), but I'm just saying it doesn't have the best in everything. Sure, it just got another Super Bowl trophy, but Phoenix has...uh...sunsets.

So ok, that's a lame comparison, but you get my drift. :)

Another thing NY (or Phoenix) doesn't have is your 'favorite' Naan n' Curry! Hardy har har :p

I'm just back tonight from almost a week in NYC. There's no Naan n' Curry, but there is Curry Hill...I'll be hitting it when I'm back for a week later in the month.

Sweet sunset!

Naan N' Curry....BAH! ;-)

Although I miss Shalimar, big time. Even New Yorkistanis will admit that the best Pak food is in San Francisco.

That said, Geggie, I discovered Curry Hill when I was over there. Awesome. I was like a kid in a candy store. We ended up at Haandi, which had some good, authentic eats. It's kind of divey, but good, solid Pakistani food.

I can't wait to go back and try all the other places in Curry Hill (plus Kabab King in Queens).

I'm hungry now.

I was right next to Kabab King since we stayed in Queens and WE NEVER MADE IT OVER THERE! Well we did try once but it was closed.

For Pakistani food in the New York area, you might want to take the PATH train over to Jersey City. There are several Pakistani restaurants over there.

A - You stayed next to Kabab King and didn't eat there? Treason!

D - I heard about Jersey City being Little Indiaville. I didn't know a lot of Pakistani restaurants also abounded there, though, but I guess it makes sense. That said, I don't think New Jersey is going to be in the cards for me to visit at least the next few times, but you never know. A lot of NYC still left for me to discover.

oohh...Shalimar is my absolute favorite. With my 6 pack of super cold Hoegaarden and two friends and I'm a happy girl!

mmmm Shalimar. I work over on 7th and Mission now. Maybe I'll go tomorrow for lunch.
